5 Questions with a Loon – Cyndi Trembley

Cyndi Trembley

Title: Senior Manager of Research Services
Library: Harris Beach PLLC
Location: Pittsford, NY

Five Questions:

1. Three people with whom you would love to have dinner? Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Angela Merkel, and Cameron Mackintosh.

2. If you could change, enact, or alter one law, what would it be? Permanent and sufficient funding to guarantee free or low-cost legal services for lower and middle class individuals.

3. Favorite weekend getaway? Brennan Beach on the edge of Lake Ontario — for the past 16 years, my home away from home in the summer.

4. Favorite form of entertainment? Theater and the Marvel movie franchise.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to see several shows here in Rochester and on the Great White Way. To date, my favorites would be Thurgood, Les Miserables, Wicked, and Choir Boy.
Never having seen a Marvel movie, I went with my teenage grandson last summer to see Infinity Wars (yeah, I know, not the one to start with) and got hooked. I spent the summer watching them all in proper order. They are like “beach reads” for me — very entertaining and a great way to connect with my grandson. Favorite scene: “Puny god.”

5. Favorite quote? “We either believe in the dignity of the individual, the rule of law, and the prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment, or we don’t. There is no middle ground.” –Leon Panetta

1. Favorite film adaptation of a book?  Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.  I have seen many of the different film versions.  I can think of three right now — 1940 Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier; BBC 1995 Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth; 2005 Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.  I have never gotten tired of watching the films and reading the book.

2. Last photo you took with your phone?  An early morning picture showing the mist rising from Victoria Falls in the distance.

3. Words to live by?  “Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.” — Salvador Dali.

4. Skill you’d like to learn?  Anything dealing with new technology, software, and programs.  I could play all day on the computer.

5. Favorite travel destination?  I am thinking of my trip to Africa, my dream that I thought would never come true.  South Africa and Kruger National Park where I saw the big 5.  Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park, Botswana where I saw so many elephants.  It was just unbelievable.

And a bonus:

6. Favorite weekend getaway?  I love the ocean and snorkeling.
