Five Questions:

1. How long did it take you to become a librarian? It took me 27 years to discover that I wanted to be a librarian. Once I discovered that about myself, it took me 1 1/2 years to earn my degree, and one year into library school to realize that I wanted to be a law librarian instead of a children’s librarian.

2. Coffee klatch with three historical American women? This was tough to narrow down, but I would have to say the three women I would choose today are:
• Anne Hutchinson, because I have always found her story fascinating;
• Harriet Tubman, because she was an amazingly courageous person; and
• Lizzy Borden, because I want to know why she did it.

3. Favorite book series from childhood? When I was very young, my favorite books were the George and Martha books by James Marshall. I was beyond excited to come across the TV show based on the series when I had my own children–my beloved characters were voiced by Nathan Lane and Andrea Martin–nothing could have been better! When I was a little older, I wore out my school library’s copies of Phyllis Reynolds Naylor’s Witch Series.

4. Favorite show? I would have to say my favorite show of all time is Arrested Development. I have watched the series many times (well, mostly the first 3 seasons), can quote almost entire episodes, and still find myself catching small jokes that I missed. 30 Rock and Seinfeld are tied for a close second.

5. If you wrote an autobiography, what would its title be and why? How Did I Get This Old? Because I ask myself that every day.
